CHEVAL DES ANDES, an Argentine “Grand Cru” at the foot of the Cordillera in the Mendoza Valley, produced by Terrazas de las Andes with the support of the Château Cheval Blanc team At the end of the long journey since the first harvest in 1996, the wine has now entered the age of maturity, able to fully translate what CHEVAL DES ANDES is. CHEVAL DES ANDES wine comes exclusively from the estate’s historic vineyards: Las Compuertas (1070 meters above sea level) has 32 hectares. of old Malbecs planted in 1929, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon; Altamira (on the La Consulta site) covers 14 hectares of Malbecs planted in 1945 at 1150 meters above sea level, thus benefiting from a cooler climate. These old vines give the wine a remarkable depth. Combined with the dominant Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon brings freshness and tension to the wine. Aged in casks, demi-muids and cut, with 50% new oak, CHEVAL DES ANDES offers superb aromatic complexity and great aging potential.
